The Meaning of “Nature’s Green Remedy” ….

Upon first arriving at this blog and reading the title, the meaning of the title can mean at least two different things depending on the perspective of the visitor.

image of earth 150x150 AboutAnyone arriving with a mindset of nutrition and well being may interpret the title and feel the material focuses on the materials the Earth provides to us assisting in building and maintaining optimal health.  On the other hand, if the person has the mindset of an environmentalist focusing on minimizing human-kinds impact on the Earth’s ecosystems.

The intended theme will actually shift back and forth between both meanings since from my perspective both are required to achieve universally sustainable green planet …

How Green is Jim Hickey?

jchickey55 AboutInteresting question that can be answered in a number of different ways since I have a mostly Irish ancestry and have a degree from Dartmouth (Big Green!) but there is actually a little more ..

After being very environmentally conscious as a young man, my environmental actions took more of a “convenient green” turn through my late thirties when a transition to a greener awareness and lifestyle kicked into gear ….

Now that I am heading the environmental geosciences program at a small Midwestern university, my focus has expanded from my professional consulting days in site assessment and remediation to more fundamental issues building to green harmony with nature.

As time moves forward, posts on this blog will range from immediately practical tips and guidance articles to the philosophical and academic dialogues on any subject considered sustainable or green.

  • Helpful tips for improving green living in and around the house;
  • Natural solutions to enhance health and well-being;
  • Green energy future (great to live in an area with wind turbines popping up all around);
  • Water pollution and conversation;
  • Soil degradation and pollution;
  • Airborne concerns – both indoors and outdoors; and
